EFFECTIVE EXERCISE FOR THE PREVENTION AND MANAGEMENT OF LOW BACK PAIN

More than 80% of the adult population suffer from low back pain at some time in their life. It is one of the most common reasons why people take time off work, and may be distressing and frustrating as quality of life often suffers.

Non specific low back pain is tension, soreness and/or stiffness in the lower back region, back pain for which your medical practitioner has not been able to identify a specific cause for the pain. Gentle, effective exercise, delivered by a properly trained exercise professional can often help with the prevention and management of low back pain.

As an experienced, certified pilates teacher, I have additionally undertaken extensive training exclusively related to exercise referral and low back pain to become a Back4Good® Practitioner and a Level 4 Advance Exercise Instructor. BackCare, the national charity for healthier backs, has endorsed the training programme for Back4Good® Practitioners, who are also registered BackCare Professionals.

THE BACK4GOOD® PROGRAMME:

If you have been recommended to take up exercise to help manage your low back pain, and your GP, physiotherapist, or other medical practitioner has referred you to me as a Back4Good® Practitioner, here is a brief outline on what is available to you:

A “one to one” programme of 8 sessions tailored specifically to your needs.

A “group” programme which is run as small classes of a maximum of 5 clients offering a structured exercise programme over an 8 week period.

The exercises taught have been specially designed to help you control your movements and improve your posture, increasing both the strength and flexibility of your back.

HEALTHY BACK CLASSES AND PRICES

These classes are ideal if you are interested in preventing low back pain, and maintaining a healthy back. The classes are based on the Body Control Pilates programme which is a balanced workout focusing on keeping your spine flexible and strong.
